B is for BUBBLES! Mrs. Saurer’s class kicked off their ABC Countdown to the end of the year with a bubbly good time! The letter B's celebration was a fun-filled day of bubble blowing, and the evidence was floating everywhere! Can’t wait to see what the rest of the countdown brings!

Mrs. Knapp’s first-grade class celebrated becoming authors this past week! They shared their opinion writing about their favorite books with their families, and everyone enjoyed listening to and encouraging our young writers. Amazing job!
Caldecott Contest
Students at both Central and Western participated in a Mock Caldecott Contest! They learned that the Caldecott Medal is an award given to the illustrator of the most distinguished picture book of the year. After weeks of reading, exploring illustrations, and engaging in lively discussions, students chose their favorite books. What a great way to foster a love for both reading and art!
First Graders Celebrate 100th Day
First graders at Western celebrated the 100th day of school with tons of counting activities, building their math skills while having fun. What a great way to mark this milestone!
Kindergarteners Read With Lucy
Lucy is back in Kindergarten at Western Elementary! She loves spending time with the students and listening to them read. Nothing beats a good book and a furry friend!
Veterans Day Breakfast
Western Elementary proudly celebrated our military kids and their families on Friday with a breakfast in their honor. It was a special time to show gratitude for their service and the sacrifices they make for our country. We are so grateful for each of them!
Military Kids Halloween Fun!
Military Kids at Western Elementary had a blast with some Halloween fun! Students made creative masks and enjoyed delicious treats. They had spook-tacular time!
Pumpkin Fun!
Mrs. Winner’s kindergarteners at Western Elementary explored the pumpkin lifecycle and discovered what plants need to grow! They got hands-on learning with parts of a pumpkin and counted over 380 seeds by grouping them into tens. Such a fun, gooey way to learn!
Peanut Butter and Jelly
Mrs. Winner's kindergarten students celebrated learning the letters "p" and "j" by making and eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They then wrote directions to help others enjoy this tasty treat!
Abuelita's Secret
Mrs. Knapp’s class at Western had a fun week sharing treasures from home! After reading "Abuelita’s Secret," students brought in their own treasures and compared them to the main character Gabriel’s. They also wrote about why their treasures are special to them, just like Gabriel did in the story. It was the perfect blend of literature and real life!
Acts of Kindness
Mrs. Knapp's first-grade class read “Lily's Purple Plastic Purse” and discussed how a simple act of kindness made Lily feel good. The students then decorated cup sleeves from Nickel and Bean to spread some joy and make someone's day!
Painting with Watercolors
Mrs. Edmunds’s kindergarteners at Western had a blast painting with watercolors that revealed a hidden surprise—their names! The excitement on their faces was priceless!
