Special Meeting

The Lexington Board of Education met in special session in the boardroom at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012.  Mr. Robert Whitney, President called the meeting to order. Roll was called by the Supintendent.

Roll Call – Members present: Mr. Loren Blackstone, Mr. Jeff Heck, Mr. Keith Stoner,  Mrs. Karen Wilson, Mr. Robert Whitney -------5        

             EXECUTIVE SESSION:

33-12   Motion by Mrs. Wilson, seconded by Mr. Stoner to enter into executive session to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of charges or complaints against a public employee, or official, or investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee, official, licensee, or regulated individual unless the public employee, official, licensee, or regulated individual requests a public hearing and negotiations.

Returned to regular session: 7:15 a.m.

             EMPLOYMENT

34-12   Motion by Mr. Heck, seconded by Mr. Blackstone to approve the employment of Taylor Gerhardt, Junior High Principal, two-year contract, effective August 1, 2012.

Mr. Ziegelhofer and Mr. Heck attended a meeting to hear a presentation from the Ohio Department of Education on changes taking effect for the 2014-2015 school year. The biggest changes are in Curriculum and the State assessment overhaul. Scores to reach a level of proficient are going to increase, making the assessments more rigorous. These changes are going to increase the challenges that teachers and administrators face in meeting curriculum standards and showing academic growth in students.

The Board rescheduled the regular May meeting for May 29, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The Board scheduled a special meeting for May 17, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. for an executive session for personnel employment.
