Congratulations Patrick S., current first grader at Western Elementary, winner of the nationwide Book It! contest sponsored by Pizza Hut. Patrick read more than 8 books each month of the last school year despite only being in Kindergarten. For his efforts, Patrick was named the national winner and received a $10,000 college scholarship, paid for by Pizza Hut. As an added bonus, all of Western students got to celebrate with a pizza party!

Central and Western students enjoyed learning from the experts on Safety Day! Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and talents.

The Arctic Habitat has come to life for third graders at Western Elementary. The students have been researching arctic animals, reading informational texts about the arctic tundra and studying the adaptation of the arctic animals to survive in such harsh winter climates. These photos showcase students collaborating in S.T.E.M. projects to build igloos to survive the blizzard-like conditions in the arctic circle. A timely study given the weather we've been experiencing lately.

We are so proud of these students for being exceptional Minutemen by showing their pride in academic and character achievement. These students are the fourth receivers of Student of the Month for the 2018-2019 school year at Western Elementary.

Mrs. North's second grade class at Western Elementary collected and delivered their "giving" goods to the Animal Shelter. The students loved the idea of doing a service project to help the animals waiting to be adopted.
