Central Elementary's 4th Grade Leadership Team prepared and served 100 meals in downtown Mansfield recently. The non-profit organization People Helping People of North Central Ohio Inc. organizes volunteers to provide and serve meals 365 days a year to those needing extra help. After serving lunch the students said it made them feel good to help others, it made them thankful for what they have and they’d love to serve lunch again. Amazing leaders serve! Thank you for your time and hard work Alan, Audrey, Nathan, Delaney, Jake and Addison!

Congratulations Patrick S., current first grader at Western Elementary, winner of the nationwide Book It! contest sponsored by Pizza Hut. Patrick read more than 8 books each month of the last school year despite only being in Kindergarten. For his efforts, Patrick was named the national winner and received a $10,000 college scholarship, paid for by Pizza Hut. As an added bonus, all of Western students got to celebrate with a pizza party!

NationalMeritRecognition

Each year more than 1.5 million high school students take the SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) for National Scholar Recognition. This year Dan A., Olivia T., Sarah M., and Maskin S. were among the top 50,000 scorers of those 1.5 million students and earned the National recognition of being named 2020 National Merit Commended Scholars. What a tremendous academic achievement! Congratulations Dan, Olivia, Sarah and Maskin!

Eastern 6th grade students participating in the annual International Talk Like a Pirate Day Long Division Hunt! The groups of students are on a long division scavenger (5 digits divided by 2 digits) hunt. What a fun way to learn this 6th grade math standard.

Lexington students in grades K-6 investigate and experiment at LEXplore Science Camp 2019. The focus of learning was on air and space concepts and activities included: Train Like an Astronaut, Airplane and Rocket Launch, Capsule Drop, Phases of the Moon, Solar System Models, Shuttle Drag Parachutes, Explosion and Balloon Rockets. Students become scientists as they explore air and space concepts in a new way.
